"The Mystery of Nate and the Skate" was inspired by the picture "Uninvited Guests" from The Mysteries of Harris Burdick.
Verse 1:
Jack and Mary the giants
Were watching the second skate
They didn’t want it to get stolen again by Nate
The doorknob started to turn
But all they saw was a worm
Chorus:
There was an invisible man
Who tried to steal a skate
His name was Nate
“I wanted to learn to skate,” said Nate
Verse 2:
They saw a shadow and a skate
And then they knew it was Nate
The shadow went to the tree with the skate
Jack jumped into the tree
And said, “Give that skate to me!”
Verse 3:
Jack pulled the magical belt
Off Nate’s polka-dot pants
He and the ants started to dance
Everyone saw his pair
Of polkadot, polkadot, polkadot underwear
Verse 4:
Jack forced Nate to tell
Where the other skate was
They gave him a fuzzy warm blanket
And went skating together
They said they could be friends forever
