(Songwriting for Kids Waynflete 2007 Class)

This song was written by: Julie (7); Kiera (6); Georgia (5); Richard (6); Owen (7); Maggie (6); Miles (6); Hanna (6); Maya (6); and Joe (7).

"Mystery" was inspired by the picture "A Strange Day in July" from The Mysteries of Harris Burdick.
Verse 1:
A girl and a boy went to a beach party
They saw a man in a black hat
And a grey coat with buttons,
A fake moustache,
A goatee, and a cat

Chorus:
Mystery, mystery
Mystery, mystery
Who is skipping the rocks back from the sea
And why did he disappear?
The shadows of the stars on the water
Look sparklier than ever here

Verse 2:
They went to the water’s edge to skip thin, smooth rocks
The first rock went plunk in the salty sea
The second rock skipped on the water
And then went plunk
But the third rock skipped back

Verse 3:
They went home and had a dream about it
They woke up and went back to the beach
They saw the man diving
And skipping rocks
He skipped eight times each
